As a Pacifica teacher, my cultural upbringing has shaped my pedagogy. This has helped establish positive relationships with my children and their families. I have grown to appreciate the values taught by my parents and teachers with the hope of passing these onto each child in Room 7. I aim to encourage my students to push their limitations, foster both critical and inquiry thinking as well as become effective problem solvers.
In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing with my family as well as friends, listening to music, watching movies and having quality time with my partner who also works in education. I am in my 7th year of teaching and have worked at many schools both in Aotearoa and Australia. I value respect, honesty and encourage all of my students to believe in themselves, aspire for great things as well as using their initiative, being responsible and taking risks.
Ko te pae tawhiti, whāia kia tata; ko te pae tata, whakamaua kia tīna.
Seek out distant horizons and cherish those you attain.
Fakalofa lahi atu kia mutolu oti.
Ko Mataatua te waka
Ko Putauake te maunga
Ko Rangitaiki te awa
Ko Ngati Awa, Ngati Niue rätou ko Ngati Hamoa
Ko Kohohinau te marae
Ko Matua Isacc Hunia toku ingoa.
