“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

Talofa lava everyone! My name is Lui Lamauta Seko Fauolo but around Rongomai School, I’m known as Matua Lui. I was born and raised in Mangere and I am a proud New Zealand-born Samoan. I am a firm believer in Christ Jesus our Saviour and I love teaching! I currently teach year 4 students in Room 6 and I enjoy teaching and learning about their different walks of life.

The reason why I teach today is because I see myself in the kids I teach; hungry to learn, thirsty for knowledge but also a little misunderstood. I believe it is my God-given duty to not only teach but foster and parent our tamaiti through relationships founded upon trust, cultural pride, respect and love.

My love for teaching was ushered in by the excellent teachers I had growing up. Favona Primary School, Marsden State School (Brisbane, Australia), Koru Primary School, Sir Douglas Bader Intermediate and Otahuhu College.  All excellent and strong in the knowledge they imparted unto me, played a massive role in why I teach today. The passion I have for teaching was later fueled by my experiences at the University of Auckland and upon starting at Rongomai School in 2013, I have never looked back  and I have enjoyed every moment of teaching.

I am blessed to work alongside an amazing team of teachers who I have come to call my family. I work with the ‘Dream Team’, I teach the ‘Dream Class’ and the parents I meet are so respectful and invested in seeing their kids learn and make the most of this amazing schooling opportunity.
